The Effect of Variety, Rootstock, Soil on Growth of Sweet Cherry in Greenhouse
Sweet cherry grown in greenhouse may be free of cold damage and cracking of fruits in cold areas. For greenhouse production of sweet cherry, different varieties, rootstocks, soils were researched by: seedling survival rate;bud sprouting rate;number of short shoots;long shoot rate. The results showed that seedling survival rate of Sta, Sum, Bea and Bro was over 90%, Bla, Bri, San and Unc was from 80 to 90%, Red was 75%, Sun was only 40% on vigorous rootstock. The survival rate of Ear or Red / Dwarf rootstock combination was better than vigorous rootstock. The survival rate of Bea, Bri and Red varieties grown in saline soil was decreased compared with loamy soil. The sprouting rate of San, Bro and Sta varieties was higher than others. The sprouting rate of Ear and Red varieties grafted on dwarf rootstock increased 25% and 56% respectively compared with traditional rootstock. The sprouting rate of Sta, Bro, San and Bri varieties grown in loamy soil was higher than in saline soil. The number of short shoots of Red and Bri varieties in saline soil was more than in loam soil. Long shoot rate of Red, Sum and Bri varieties in saline soil was lower. The experiment found that for the greenhouse production;Sum, Sta, Bro, and San varieties performed best.
