The application of polysulfone-Fe3O4 composite ultrafiltration membrane in the purification

In this paper, a novel polysulfone (PSF)Fe3O4 composite ultrafiltration membrane was prepared and employed to purify the flavonoids from the ginkgo biloba extraction (GBE). The mass susceptibility (x) of the ginkgo flavonoids with the purity of 98% was tested being 3.99×10-4, so they showed paramagnetic. It was proved by Magnetic Property Measurement System (MPMS) that composite membrane was super-paramagnetic for the addition of nano-sized Fe3O4 particles. The content of flavonoids in the products were 30.16 wt %, 35.24 wt. %, 42.5 wt %, 50.58 wt %, 52.20 wt %, 52.87 wt. % when ultrafiltration were performed in the magnetic field of OT, 0.2 T, 0.4 T, 0.6 T, 0.8 T, 1.0 T respectively. The results illustrated that the use of magnetic field with the composite membrane can improve the flavonoids content in the products.
