Simulated Effect of Soil Compaction on Root Architecture of Upland Rice with a Method of Sand-foster

Quantitative description and analysis of plant root architecture were the bases for plant root growth. Roots were difficult to observe and obtain quantitative parameters of three-dimensional root architecture owing to growing in opaque soils. Roots of upland rice that was different with rice were grown in soil with water unsaturated.Root architecture of upland rice was closely related to soil compaction according to the growth environment of upland rice. To research the effect of soil compaction on root architecture of upland rice was significance to analysis growth rule of upland rice. Therefore, the way to research upland rice root by using a sand foster system to cultivate upland rice and quantitatively measured the root architecture parameters. According to soil compaction effects on root architecture of upland rice and the experiments of the growth of upland rice in the different weight sand-foster system, the effects of root of upland rice under different soil compaction was simulated by the developed program of root-soil simulation based on FLTK in LINUX system .The developed program of root-soil simulation referenced the method of Sim Root, which is a geometrical modeling of root systems.The parameters of root architecture of upland rice under different soil compaction were obtained for further analysis.
