Status and Prospects of Organic Food in China
The industry of organic food has developed very fast in recent years. China has become the third largest planting area for organic food. By the end of November 2010, the number of bases of organic food has added to 70 within 7 years. China issued 5051 organic certificates and the certified enterprises reached 4091. The species of organic food are a total of 5598, with a growth rate of 20％ per year. Although organic food in China is of dynamic development, there still are many problems, such as lacking outstanding enterprises and brands, inadequate publicity and promotion, too much fake and forged organic food, confused certification standards. To cope with these problems, we proposed several countermeasures from the two perspectives of government and industry in the paper.
