An Image Denoising Method which Combines Adaptive Median Filter with Weighting Mean Filter

Denoising processing is a necessary pretreatment for polluted images before character abstraction, image recognition and image comprehension. In this paper, a new method which combines adaptive median filter with improved weighting mean filter, is presented. The new method has the two filter techniques advantages. In condition of preserving the image edge as much as possible, the new method can not only get rid of salt&pepper noise with different density effectively, but also restrain Gauss noise well. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of the new algorithm.
