Research Progress on Millimeter Wave Transmitarray in SKLMMW

Inspired by conventional lens antennas, the flat transmitarray has been proposed in the last decades, combining with the concept of phased arrays, to carry forward the large aperture antennas for high-gain applications with advantages of low profile, easy fabrication, low cost, and wide scanning angles, etc. The air feed scheme of the transmitarray contributes to the result that a lower loss can be achieved than that of antenna arrays with complicated feeding networks, which is very suitable for millimeter-wave (mmW) and sub-millimeter-wave (smmW) applications. This paper briefly reviews the research progress on mmW transmitarrays in State Key Lab. of Millimeter Waves (SKLMMW), Southeast University, and several prototypes operating in 30-330 GHz are presented.
