IMPROVED ALGORITHMS FOR SCRATCH LINES DETECTION AND RESTORATION

An improved method to detect and restore scratch lines in the image is presented in this paper. Scratch line means the different gray values from neighboring pixels, its length and position appeared in images is random and generally sustain for several frames.Hough Transform and morphological operations is used to detect the scratch lines while the restoration is realized based on bilinear interpolation.The experimental result shows that the improved algorithm can locate scratch lines accurately, and the parameters such as length, start position and terminal position can be achieved to remove them effectively.
