Competitive Advantage of SMBs Based on the Case of Chinas Automobile Industry
In this paper we compare export performance between whole vehicles and spare parts sectors of Chinas automobile industry with special focus on the firm heterogeneity. We analyze the source of competitive advantage within the framework of Diamond Model, our analysis shows that spare parts sector is more competitive although it is mainly composed of small and medium sized businesses, implying that small and medium sized businesses could acquire competitiveness through making good use their uniqueness.
