Design of an Energy-Efficient Double Rounds Clustering Protocol in Wireless Sensor Network
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is one of the most active technologies in information area. But sensor nodes energy restriction is a big problem in WSN. In this paper we focus on the communications aspect to present a new protocol for WSN to improve energy efficiency. It is called Energy-Efficient Double rounds Clustering Protocol (EEDCP). It improves the LEACH protocol as follows: add a parameter of energy for the head nodes election arithmetic, combines flat topology, hierarchical topology and locationbased routing to form a hybrid topology, uses double rounds clustering instead of every round clustering. At last, we simulate it on Matlab, and compare the results with LEACH and DIRECT protocol. The results show that it improves the energy performance of network by 33%~82%.
