A Few Chirps About Sina Micro-blogging
Sina micro-blogging, the most famous micro-blogging service about two years old in china, commands more than 50 million users as of September 2010 and is growing fast Similar to Twitter, users post about any topic within the 140-character limit The goal of this paper is to characterizing the user profiles and contents. We gathered a data set ( covering about 400,000 users ) with randomly sampling method. Many attributes have been extracted from those gathered users, and many statistics have been done on them. We found that most distributions of users attributes are pow-law. The relations of attributes were also analyzed in detail. Some interesting findings that may be out of our intuitions were summarized in this paper. For instance, there is almost no relation between users fans count and fallowings count Retweets count has strong relation with fans count, and the pearson related coefficient riches 0.9. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first quantitative study on the the most famous Chinese micro-blogging system, Sina micro-blogging.
