A Comprehensive Approach for Static Voltage Stability Preventive Control using Immune Algorithm
A new methodology is proposed for the static voltage stability preventive control, using immune algorithm (IA). The investigation presented in the paper showed that sensitivity index is a proper predictor for locating the weak points in the region. The sensitivity is first computed to identify the most effective preventive controls, and then a linear optimization with the objective of minimizing the sensitivity is performed to coordinate the control actions. In the proposed method, objective functions and constraints are represented as antigens. Through the genetic evolution, an antibody that most fits the antigen becomes the solution. Further, the proposed method has been applied to the IEEE-30 system and it shows that the proposed immune algorithm can successfully improve the voltage stability of the power system not only under normal operation but also under N-1 contingency situations.
