Numerical Study on the Mode and Dispersion Properties of Tapered Microstructure Optical Fibers
The effective normalized frequency, the power fraction in the core and the group velocity dispersion of tapered microstructure optical fibers (TMOFs) are investigated by the full-vector effective index method for different values of index a. The index a determinates the shape of TMOFs. It is found that the shape and structure of TMOFs have an important influence on the effective normalized frequency, and the group velocity dispersion.
