Experiences of Teaching Computational Thinking for Non-Majors
As computational thinking becomes a fundamental skill for the 21st century, non-majors should be exposed to be taught and trained of computing principles. In this paper, we present our practices and experiences on teaching computational thinking for non-major freshmen in College Computer Fundamental course. The topics include the selection of CT topics, adoption of teaching methods and feedback from the survey at the end of the course. The promising results of our practice and survey suggest that its essential to give non-major students relevant information of computational thinking, and as well the adoption of suitable teaching methods is important. In the near future, we will continue on improving the teaching of computational thinking.
