Energy Resource Cognition and Attitudes of Junior High School Students: Kaisyuan Junior High School, I-Lan County, Taiwan
This research uses a questionnaire to investigate the energy resource cognition and attitudes of junior high school students at Kaisyuan Junior High School, I-Lan County.The focus of the study is placed on understanding the current energy resource cognition and attitudes of I-Lan County junior high school students and how background variables affect their cognition and attitudes. This research is based on current theories and evidence provided in relevant research.A self-made Energy Education Promotion Manual is used to implement cognitive teaching, and uses the self-made I-Lan County Junior High School Student Energy Resource Cognition and Attitude Questionnaire as the instrument.The questionnaire contains a group of questions regarding background information, an energy resource cognition questionnaire and an energy resource attitude questionnaire.Ninety-nine questionnaires were given to the students of Kaisyuan Junior High School, and 100% of those questionnaires were returned suitable for analysis.They were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, the independent sample t test, the paired sample t test, and the Pearson Correlation analysis. The results of this research are summarized below: Before teaching Energy Education, the students already had a reasonable level of energy resource cognition. After teaching Energy Education, energy resource cognition of students significantly improved. Students have intermediate level energy resource attitudes. Male and female energy resource attitudes were significantly different on life style and personal well being. Students with better energy cognition have better energy attitudes.
