A Method of Audio Codecs Mode Control Based on Finite State Machine
Generally, in the course of the development and application of multimedia devices such as audio or video codec in embedded systems, we should regularly set and adjust their working mode, attributes and conditions. The more common method is to use a micro-processor (or a micro-controller) with program controlling, but there may have some problems such as occupying processor resources, disordering the control timing, etc. Therefore, taking TIs PCM3002 Audio Codec for example, this article proposes a method of how to design the devices mode controller by using the principle of finite state machine and the technology of programmable logic Devices, which could help fulfill a total hardware control of the devices mode so as to improve the real-time response and efficiency of the host system.
