Security challenges in Wireless Mesh Networks Deployment and User Authentication(EAP) Methods
Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is a burgeoning hybrid communication network by combining various technologies, including IEEE 802.11,IEEE 802.15,IEEE 802.16,ad hoc networks and wireless cellular network. As an emerging solution for a large scale internet access, WMNs can offer a much more flexible and efficient network framework to provide the better service. By absorbing the essential elements of several wireless technologies, WMNs outline a brand new practical network infrastructure. On the other hand, WMNs also inherit some vulnerability that might evoke critical security risks from those technologies. Although lots of the solutions are proposed, nevertheless eliminating all threats can still be surprisingly tough. The research on WMN security issues is still challenging. This paper focuses on exploring the security threats associated with WMN deployment and user authentication. We present a brief review of WMNs key technical aspects and specific at first. Then we analyze some security issues on WMNs deployment, including discussion on security challenges introduced by 802.1 In when its adopted in WMNs. Finally, we conclude with the comparison of popular user authentication (TAP) methods.
