Carrier Frequency Estimation and Modulation Identification Using the Optimal Wavelet Scale
Methods of wavelet transform are effective methods of multiscale time-frequency analysis under the background of strong noise. It has found wide applications in many areas, such as modulation identification, parameters estimation etc. The use of the wavelet transform for signal processing has the different performance under the different wavelet scales. So, there is a need to determine the optimal wavelet scale. This paper derives the optimal wavelet scale without prior knowledge, which relies on the maximum output SR criterion. Finally, we apply the optimal wavelet scale in the carrier frequency estimation and the modulation identification. Two kinds of digital signals MPSK and MQAM are considered. The simulated results show that the method of optimal wavelet scale can accurately estimate the carrier frequency and can acquire good performance of signal intra-class identification at low SNR.
