Numerical Simulation of Influence of Permeability on Gas Distribution in Gob
Air leakage front working face to gob area and its distribution have a great effect on distribution and migration of gob gas. Permeability in gob area is one of the most important factors influencing the air leakage between working face and gob area. It is necessary to investigate the influence of distribution and magnitude of permeability on air leakage and distribution of gas in gob area. A commercial software Fluent is used to simulate the distribution of methane gas under various permeability conditions based on computational fluid dynamic theory. The numerical simulation results have shown that distribution and magnitude of permeability have important effects on air leakage and distribution of gas in gob area. Therefore, in order to obtain accurate results the distribution and magnitude of falling rock in waste must be taken into consideration when simulate the gas distribution and leakage airflow field in gob area.
