Speedy Clonal Selection for Image Compression using Fractal Method
Since fractal image compression could maintain high-resolution reconstructed images at very high compression ratio, it has great potential to improve the efficiency of image storage and image transmission. The encoding speed of the traditional full search method is a key factor rendering the fractal image compression unsuitable for real-time applications. The time is mainly spent on the search for the best-match block in a large domain pool. In order to solve the encoding problem Speedy Clonal Selection (SCS) optimization was carried out. Instead of the sequential search, a direction map is built according to the edge-type of image blocks, which clones the B-Cell to regions consisting of candidate Domains of higher affinity. Experimental results show that this method can work well and can speedup the encoding process.
