The Effect of Raw Materials on Aluminum Volatilization in EBCHF Smelting Titanium Alloy
The melting technology of electron beam cold hearth furnace(EBCHF)is an advanced,low-cost,newly-emerged technology for preparation of titanium alloy ingots. However.it has an adverse effect upon the composition control of ingots. Since the high vacuum that happens in the smelting process of electron beam cold hearth furnace can lead to volatilization loss of elements, like aluminum. In this paper,different kinds of raw materials will be selected to trial-produce the titanium alloys containing aluminum in EBCHF. Researches will be made on the effects of the raw materials on the volatilization of aluminum. It has been proved that the raw materials have directly effects on the volatilization of aluminum,and it will directly affect the uniformity of elements of the titanium alloy ingots. This article tries to make a rational process for melting of titanium alloy ingots in EBCHF and offer some elicitations to the accurate control of volatile elements.
