Study of Chlorination Process of Natural Rutile in Fluidized Bed

Fluidized chlorination process of natural rutile is researched in the paper. The exact content of all the elements and the existing forms of Titanium are ascertained firstly. Based on the thermodynamics calculations of chlorination reaction on natural rutile, the effect of fluidizing chlorination parameters on chlorination reaction such as chlorination reaction time, temperature,chlorine gas flow,particle size, chlorine gas concentration and ratio of petroleum coke is studied secondly. The results show that the conversion rate can get over 95% under certain conditions. The results on dynamics of fluidized chlorination process indicate that the process conforms to contracting unreduced nucleus model without solid products. When the temperature range is from 900℃ to 1000℃ ,the activation energy is 9.17KJ/mol. The reaction is; controlle d by diffusion.
