Modeling of Deformation and Temperature of the Continuous Rolling Process of Titanium Alloy Rod

Base on the physical and mechanical performances of titanium alloy and the deformation characteristics of metals during two-rolling and three-rolling process,this paper proposed a novel continuous rolling process, which has the feature that roughing mill,medium mill and finishing mill are composed of two-roll mill and three-roll Y-type mill. The pass of two-roll mill is round in which the rod could accomplish larger defprmation. While the pass of three-roll mill is composed of positive and negative triangle, where the rod is compressed from different directions to improve its plasticity. The deformation and temperature distributions of the material have been analyzed by three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element method,and the differences between three-roll rolling and two-roll rolling plus threeroll rolling passes have been clarified. This could provide the basis for theoretical research and engineering applications of titanium alloy rod rolling process.
