The Processing Map and Optimization of Hot Workability of Ti53311S Titanium Alloy
The hot deformation behavior of Ti53311S alloys was studied in the temperature range 880°C-1080°C and strain rate range 10-3-10s-1 using processing maps. The processing maps showed domains at some combinations of temperature and strain rates and these domains have been correlated with specific microstructure processes occurring during hot deformation by metallographic investigations and kinetic analysis. The optimal microstructure can be getting at middle strain rate of 0.1s-1 and below beta transus temperature. The deformation mechanism of Ti53311S alloy in β field is dynamic recover, and the grain can not be refined by increasing compressibility in β field. The flow instability during hot deformation has also been investigated and the deformation conditions that favor DRX process is recommended for hot working.
