Study on Rotary Piercing Technology for High Strength Titanium
Rotary piercing technology is one of the effective methods to fabricate seamless tube. Inhomogeneous deformation of high strength titanium alloy is rather serious for its high resistance force to deformation in the rotary piercing process, so rotary piercing technology of high strength titanium is on its experiment stage. The flow of metal and distortion laws in the rotary piercing process was analyzed. Ti26 high strength titanium tube was obtained successfully by Mannesmann piercing mill. Microstructure properties and fracture surface of the tube were studied. The results show that the grain is fine and the ductility is excellent, which make further deformation processing possible.
