Twinning Structure in Beta-type TiNbPd Shape Memory Alloys
Possible deformation twinning of α martensitic phase in βtype Ti-Nb and Ti-Nb-Pd alloys has been unambiguously investigated. The calculation based on the Bilby and Crockers deformation twinning theory showed (110) twinning has the top priority to be operative on the basis of small shear strain and no shuffling involved!and detailed experimental observations by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) also confirmed that the (110) twinning is much easier to be formed than others,such as (021) and (001) twinning.
