Flow Behavior and Microstructure Characteristic of Ti-5553 Alloy during Hot Deformation
The characteristics of hot deformation of metastable β titanium alloy Ti-5553 had been studied. Compression tests were carried out on a Gleeble-1500 thermal simulation testing machine in the temperature range from 800℃ to 860℃,at strain rate range from 0. 1s-1 to 10s-1. Experimental results show that the flow stress of Ti-5553 alloy decreases with the increase of temperature and the decrease of strain rate. Discontinuous yielding with flow oscillations was observed deformed higher than 1s-1. The flow stress was analyzed with Arrhenius equation and activation energy parameters were obtained. The microstructure of Ti-5553 alloy was analyzed using an optical microscope and transmission electron microscope.
