Experimental Investigation of Coarsening Behavior of TA15 Titanium Alloy in Beta-Phase Field
The coarsening characteristics of TA15 titanium alloy with an equiaxed microstructure were investigated via experimental study. The experiments were performed at temperatures of 1273,1293,1313,1333 and 1353 K for holding times 5,10,20 and 30 minutes at each temperature, respectively. To understand and control the coarsening behavior, the effects of temperature and holding timed ) on the growth kinetics and topolo-gical features were experimentally investigated We find that temperature does have an important effect on grain coarsening in beta- phase field. At the experimental temperatures, we neglect the effect of initial grain size R0 on coarsening evolution. The relationship between average grain size(R) and t approximately follows the classical parabolic growth law, moreover, the growth exponent (m) does not vary at specific temperatures ; the areas of grains with sides less and more than six linearly decrease and increase with t, respectively; the distribution of grain size and edges is initial grain size-invariant and time-invariant under these temperatures.
