Effect of Omega Phase on Shape Memory Properties of Ti-base Alloys
The effects of both thermal and athermal omega phases on the martensitic transformation behavior and shape memory properties were investigated in Ti-Nb and Ti-Nb-Mo alloys. Both omega phases strongly affected the martensitic transformation temperatures and shape recovery strain. Particularly the athermal omega phase caused anomalous temperature dependence of the critical stress for inducing martensitic transformation.
