Deformation and Crack Propagation in Ti153 Alloy

The special deformation mechanism and crack propagation of Til53 alloy sheet have been investigated. The mechanical perproties were tested by tensile expereiment and fracture morphorlogy was characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The emergence of slip line and the slippage process were observed by SEM in in-suit tensile. The results show that ( I ) the strain hardening exponent of this alloy sheet is very low, ( Ⅱ ) the fracture is voidmode fracture and the size of the dimple is not uniform, (Ⅲ ) the slip-lines parallel to each other and some of the slip lines through the grain boundary and ( Ⅳ ) the cracks propagate in a convolution manner. The deformation mechanism is discussed in this paper.
