Effect of Aging Temperature on Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of Aged Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al Alloy with Prestrain

The effect of aging temperature on microstructure and mechanical behavior of aged Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al alloy with prestrain has been investigated. The results showed that stress-induced martensites appeared when the β-quenched Ti1023 alloy was stretched to 10% strain. Fine and dispersed a and β particles were observed after subsequent aging treatment at 510℃ for short time.e. g. 0. 5h. But the martensitic decomposition at 400℃ could not be completed until aging for 12h. The martensitic decomposition and the followed phase coarsening process could be accelerated with an increase of aging temperature. Vickers hardness analyses showed that when aged at 400℃ and 450°C the hardness increased first and then gradually decreased with increasing aging times. However, when aged at 510℃ a continuous decrease of hardness was exhibited.
