Effect of Heat Treatment on Properties of TG6 Titanium Alloy
Mechanical properties of near-α TG6 titanium alloy with different heat treatment has been studied. The results show that higher aging treatment temperatures decrease the tensile strength but the tensile ductility keeps in general leveler. The quenching ways after solution treatment also influence the mechanical properties of TG6 alloy. Water quenching can improve the tensile strength and the elevated temperature properties maintain good. Solution and aging treatment and solution plus dual aging treatment were also researched. It was found that triple heat treatment is the optimum way to obtain well combination properties of TG6 alloy in room and high temperature. This may be mainly attributed to the coherent precipitation of α2 phase and silicide particles during the thermal exposure treatment.
