Characterization of microstructure and texture of a cold-rolled high Nb containing TiAl Alloy

The wrought TiAl based alloys containing high Nb were cold-rolled by controlling reduction each pass. The results show that the whole reduction in this study is up to more than 10% and the foils of TiAl had a smooth surface. The good thickness uniformity of whole specimens is most important for coldrolling. The work hardening behavior is different of the foils if the thickness of foils is not uniform. So some foils were cracking by the difference of work hardening on the foils. The deformation firstly occurs at the surface and then at the center of the foils. The texture formed in this case has a relatively strong <110> component. The annealing study revealed that microstructure and mechanical properties depend on reduction, annealing temperature and annealing time.
