Study on Production of Pre-alloyed Powders and Powder Metallurgy Processing of A Gamma Titanium Aluminide

Pre-alloyed gamma titanium aluminide powders with composition of Ti-46Al-2Cr-2Nb+B+W (at %) have been successfully produced by argon gas atomization. The characteristics of pre-alloyed gamma titanium aluminide powders have been investigated In addition,a gamma titanium alu-minides compact has been obtained by consolidating pre-alloyed powders by HIP,and given various heat treatments to gain full lamella and duplex microstructures. Room temperature tensile properties were test and microstructures were observed to the test pieces gained during heat treatment. The results showed that the pieces with duplex microstructures have a better elongation up to 3. 1 %, resulting from a fined grain size.
