Advance in Powder Metallurgy of Titanium
Nearly 50 years the metallurgists of titanium alloys are engaged in titanium powder production and researching the ways of application in aviation, military and chemical industries. Porosity, inclusions, microstructure and many others shortages during this time were removed,but application of PM titanium for critical parts is not sufficient now. New techniques of atomization,HIP,heat treatment for modern alloys are opening the ways for the new vision on the reliability of PM parts. At the paper it was shown that the proper quality of the powder, HIP, thermo treating and other technical decision give reason to suppose that parts produced from titanium powder have the same or better properties then forged parts. These results will allow us to have economy of metal, human and energetic resources.
