Creep Properties of Ti-1Cu Sheet at Elevated Temperatures
High temperature creep properties at 650°C were investigated for 1. 5mm-thick thin gauge sheets of Ti-lCu, which was specially developed for automobile mufflers responding to the increase of the operation temperature, with emphasizing on the comparison to JIS Class-2 commercial pure titanium (JIS2 CP-Ti). Creep tests were carried out using specially designed test apparatus for thin gauge sheet specimens in air. Ti-1Cu has full-y higher creep resistance than JIS2 CP-Ti. Excellent high temperature creep resistance in Ti-lCu is considered to be attributed to the solid solution hardening of Cu and the strain hardening by the high density dislocations,both of which should significantly contribute to suppress slip deformation.
