Using Macro-invertebrates as Bio-indicators for Water Quality Assessment in the Chishui River
In view of the insufficiency of existing water quality assessment methods in Yangtze River, using macro-invertebrates as bio-indicators for water quality assessment has been tested in the Chishui River basin. 10 sites were sampled during the autumn dry season in 2010, both in main stream and tributaries. It can be found that the zoobenthos community structure is responding to the certain water pollution condition, after tests of some biotic indexes the ASPT (Average Score Per Taxon) is considered as the most suitable index in this region for water quality assessment, a new water quality assessment using bio-indicators would be built based on the ASPT.
