Analysis on the Diversion-Discharge Relationship among the Yangtze River, the River Network and the Taihu Lake
The issue of water resources and water environment in the Taihu Lake basin has caught the attention of the governments at all levels. Drawing water from the Yangtze River has been one major way to tackle waterrelated problems in this region. This thesis includes illustration of the following aspects: the Taihu Lake s dependence on the Yangtze River in history, the changing law of division-discharge relationship of the Taihu Lake basin after China s liberation war, the changing trend of the inflow and outflow of the Taihu Lake, etc. The study focuses on the relationship between the inter-annual, annual division-discharge changes and water resource, water environment in the Taihu Lake Basin. It comes to the conclusion that further optimization and readjustment of the division-discharge relationship in the Taihu Lake is required to meet the demands of economic and social development, and the Lake s divisiondischarge capacity should be improved through engineering measures.
