There is an urgent need for new production concepts to promote a sustainable development of next generation industrial products and processes, based on the use of selective and flexible manufacturing, processing, conversion and separation processes, operating on a variety of scales and able to maximize mass and energy utilization while minimizing resources utilization and waste production.
