SOL-GEL METHOD FOR ZNO INVERSE OPAL FILM SYNTHESIS
As one of the hottest issues in the world, photcatalysis is considered as a green technology to tackle the shadow of energy shortage and environmental crisis. Using the solar energy is a promising way for applications of photovoltaic cells, clean fuel production, and photocatalysis for environmental remediation. ZnO, a wide band gap semiconductor, has attracted much attention due to its good photocatalytic activity under UV light, photochemical stability, low cost, and environmental friendliness. To improve the optical response of ZnO photocatalytic efficiency, several strategies based on chemical and physical concepts have been adopted. The inverse opal of ZnO, which may show slow photon in the structures under light irradiation like that of observed in TiO2 inverse opal,1,2 is worth synthesizing for potential use to degrade pollutants for environmental remediation and to synthesize hydrocarbon for energy crisis.
