An Investigation of Film Evaporation Correlation of Saline Solution at Low Pressures & High Concentration
The design of desalination devices found in efficient energy technologies such as those in multi effect desalination (MED) and multi stage flash (MSF) plants is highly dependent on the availability of heat and mass transfer correlation at the correct pressure and temperature. The literature shows the limited published data (Han & Fletchers and Chun & Sebans falling-film correlations) for heat transfer correlation at low pressure with high concentration .The objective of this study is to investigate the heat transfer correlation for said conditions in a falling-film evaporator. The evaporator pressure were maintained between 0.90 to 20kpa (corresponds to saturation temperatures of 6 - 60 °C) at salinity level ranging from 15000 to 90000 ppm during experiments.
