ARRAYS FABRICATION AND PHOTOVOLTAIC PROPERTIES OF SN-DOPED VERTICALLY ORIENTED HEMATITE NANORODS FOR SOLAR CELLS

We report on the synthesis and characterization of Sn-doped vertically array hematite nanorods as well as their implementation as photoanodes for photovoltaic solar cells. The hematite nanorods were prepared on a fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate by a hydrothermal method, followed by high temperature sintering in air to incorporate Sn, diffused from the FTO substrate, as a dopant. It revealed that the enhanced photovoltaic properties in Sn-doped vertically array hematite nanorods should be due to an improved photocurrent density, more negative onset potential, better photon harvesting, and better charge carrier transfer ability. The observed behavior may provide new information to enhance the photovoltaic ability of hematite, which is considered to be one of the best photoanode materials in the research field of solar cells.
