VANADIUM/AIR FUEL CELL AND VANADIUM/WATER PROTON EXCHANGE MEMBRANE ELECTROLYSER
Because of their high energy and power density lithium ion batteries are the most interesting candidates for a comfortable e-mobility. To recharge the battery relatively long charge times are necessary so that long distances are not possible in an agreeable amount of time. Lithium ion batteries with alternative cathode materials such as lithiumtitanate can be recharged in a couple of minutes but have a lower energy density compared to lithiumcobaltoxide. Fast recharge also needs higher power which results in an increasing instability of the grid especially in the background of an increasing use of fluctuating renewable energies.
