A SPEEK/short-carboxylic multi-walled carbon nanotube composite membrane for vanadium redox flow battery applications
In order to reduce the capacity loss of the vanadium redox flow battery (VRB) while keeping its good cell performance, sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK)/ short-carboxylic multi-walled carbon nanotube (SCCT) composite membrane(we name it as SPEEK/SCCT membrane) has been fabricated and characterized. The performance of vanadium redox flow battery single cell with SPEEK/SCCT membrane is measured. As a result (Fig.1), the VRB single cell with SPEEK/SCCT membrane shows less capacity loss in comparison with the VRB single cell with Nafion 212 membrane. The VRB single cell with SPEEK/SCCT membrane shows higher coulombic efficiency (CE) and higher energy efficiency (EE) than that with Nafion 212 membrane.
