Adaptability in public administrative compounds–From mixed models toward adaptive models
In recent years a range of prominent public administration researchers have emphasized the mixing of different administrative models. Here, I offer theoretical arguments for moving beyond the mixed models approach in an attempt to understand the adaptability of public administration. The conceptualization I suggest is partly based on a complex adaptive system approach and partly on the mixing approach. This conceptualization gives us new tools to describe the adaptive capability found inside public administration and to exploit the mixing of administrative compounds prospectively.
