STABILITY ANALYSIS OF SUPERCRITICAL WATER COOLED REACTOR

The thermo-physical properties and transport properties of the coolant in the core would changegreatly in the operation process, which could cause flow instability. A code called FIAT isdeveloped using MATLAB to analysis the density wave oscillations. The code is based on the corenuclear-thermal coupling model. The results show that: Pressure Tube-type Supercritical WaterCooled Reactor (PT-SCWR) and Pressure Vessel-type Supercritical Water Cooled Reactor (PVSCWR)can be both operated in stable region and PT-SCWR can get greater stability margin. Fuelrods heat transfer model and neutron kinetics model stabilize the system but water rods modeldestabilize the system.
