NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION ON PRESSURE DROP OF SUPERCRITICAL WATER IN WIRE-WRAPPED FUEL BUNDLE
The wrapped wire spacers in tight lattice fuel assembly enhance heat transfer but increase pressuredrop. Most of friction factor correlations available are not good for the predictions without theparameter range for which they were derived. In this work, Supercritical water pressure drop inwire-wrapped fuel bundle is investigated using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code CFX. Anew friction factor correlation for wire-wrapped fuel bundle under supercritical condition isobtained and validated by comparing with numerical simulation method, and the validation showsthat the new correlation provides a good fit to numerical analysis result.
