ENHANCEMENT ALGORITHM BASED ON AN IMPROVED RIDGELET TRANSFORM
In this paper, a novel discrete ridgelet transform has been proposed in the image enhancement algorithm, based on Bresenham line generating method which is used in the Radon transform. Compared to the nearest neighborhood interpolate method, it can decrease the complexity and improve the efficiency of the computation. Therefore, a scheme based on modifying ridgelet coefficients should be very effective in enhancing the linear singularities. In general, the edges and details of the natural image are curves. A smooth partition method is proposed to divide an image into local windows where the edges and details look straight. Then the enhancement scheme can be applied to each piece of the whole image. Experiments verify that the details of the images can be displayed effectively. Nevertheless, this algorithm is better for the indexes of the edge protection and the average gradient than those based on histogram equalization and wavelet transform.
