A CLINICAL STUDY TO OBSERVE THE EFFECT OF ABDOMINAL ACUPUNCTURE ON CLIMACTERIC SYMPTOMS IN WOMEN

The article is to investigate the effect of abdominal acupuncture in treating climacteric symptoms in women. 60 women with climacteric symptoms were selected and randomly divided into two groups: abdominal acupuncture group and control group. Patients in the abdominal acupuncture group were given abdominal acupuncture treatment for 4 weeks and those in the control group were administered with Livial taken orally. Blatt-Kupperman Menopausal Index (BKMI) was used to evaluate the severity of climacteric symptoms at baseline, post-treatment and after follow-up. Results show compare to baseline, both groups showed significantly decline in the BKMI scores (P<0.05) after treatment and the follow-up period.
