Experimental Study for Turbulent Convective Heat Transfer with Molten HITEC Salt in a Circular Pipe
In our former work, experimental study on turbulent convective heat transfer with molten lithium nitrate salt was made and the validity of the well known empirical correlations for molten lithium nitrate salt was testified. In this paper, we will obtain the heat transfer convective correlation of molten HITEC salt by experimental study. The flow rates and temperatures of molten salt and mineral oil in the inlet and outlet of the salt-oil heat exchanger were measured and the average forced convective heat transfer coefficients of molten salt were obtained by least-squares method. Finally, a heat transfer correlation of turbulent flow with molten salt in tube was obtained and good agreement was found between the correlation and the well-known Petukhov equation and Gnielinski equation. The experimental data of molten salt in the present work are consistent with the other reported results including molten lithium nitrate.
