Performance of a Total Heat Exchanger with a Novel CA Membrane

This paper studies the heat and moisture recovery performance of cellulose acetic (CA) membrane-based total heat exchanger. A novel cellulose acetic (CA) asymmetric membrane has been prepared. The efficiency of exchanging heat and moisture has been tested using traditional paper membrane (XS) as control. The energy loss of the core has also been evaluated by leakage test and pressure drop. The results show that the moisture recovery and total efficiency of CA membrane are much higher than these of XS membrane. Besides, CA membrane-based total heat exchanger has less energy loss than the XS membrane-based one.
